I, Bernd Schales am an 8th generation winemaker. My wife, Stefanie is a 10th generation winegrower. Enriched by the remarkable tradition of our respective families, we also yearned to create a new chapter in our family's history. We ventured across the Atlantic to the New World, and started an ultra-contemporary winery here in the Okanagan Valley. Our roots have now successfully been transplanted, and our family tradition continues with the 8th Generation Winery.

Welcome to our family boutique winery. We present you with a collection of wines revealing true varietal character, crafted with our utmost attention. We have been growing varieties such as Gewurztraminer, Viognier, Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot gris, Cabarnet-Sauvignion, Merlot, Pinot-Noir Malbec and Syrah in over 10 acres of vines on excellent terroir.

We use classic winemaking techniques to produce thirteen off-dry table wines and eight late-harvest style dessert wines. BC grown fruit provides the foundation for our wine portfolio, which offers many delightful taste sensations.

Right from the start it has always been about the creation of premium wines using certified organic grapes from our own vineyard. We use natural techniques such as reduced crop yield, special canopy and vineyard management practices, and working - as nature intended - without petro-chemical pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers to ensure the production of high quality fruit. Hand harvested and gently pressed, our wines are slowly fermented in small batch stainless steel tanks. The result is an amazingly fresh, crisp, fruit forward wine series

Summerland Heritage Cider Company was co-founded by three farming friends. After years of making cider for personal consumption, they began to experiment with recipes. These three friends invested a lot of time, resources, and passion into their cider. The result is SHCC’s flagship blend, Tuesday’s Original Cider, a refreshingly bubbly, sweet, and tart cider. The Vinegar Works at Valentine Farm harvests their family vineyard to produce limited-run Wine Vinegars. Available for sampling are Gewürztraminer White, Pinot Meunier Red, White Balsamic, Tarragon and fruit Infused Wine Vinegars. The Vinegars are Certified Organic and notably, everything in every bottle is grown at Valentine Farm.

At Summerland Golf & Country Club, we want our members and guests to enjoy our 6,536 yard championship course. With 18 holes, our golf course provides a scenic break for our members. Come and enjoy a lesson with our golf pro. We offer rentals so that all may come and enjoy the game of golf.

We invite you to join us on the only preserved section of the Kettle Valley historic railway: Ten miles of beautiful vistas; from lush orchards and vineyards to a spectacular view of lake and land from the Trout Creek Bridge 238 ft above the canyon floor. The sight and sound of our restored 1912 Steam Locomotive the “3716” will bring the era alive as you ride along on this 90 minute journey in a vintage passenger coach or open air car.

A beautiful garden that brings delight to the heart and solace to the soul can be found at the 15-acre (6 hectare) historic Summerland Ornamental Gardens, which has stunning views of Okanagan Lake, Trout Creek Canyon, Giant's Head Mountain and the breathtaking Kettle Valley Railway Bridge.

Napa North Wine Touring is very comfortable in a smooth riding commercial licenced " touring van" featuring individual air conditioning controls , drop down & pop up TV screens for wine videos . . . . & great viewing ability. Napa Nancy is licensed for commercial touring, and knows where the most amazing vineyard's are nestled. The tour itself is intimate & accommodating, very adventurous & "grape fun".
